Dead fish update

According to comments in a post on the city’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/cityoflajoya):

“Good afternoon we’ve had residents contact us that they’ve picked up as much fish as they can and bagged them up so the Public Works Department is able to stop by for the bags to dispose of them.”

“It is best to contact City Hall at 956-581-7002 and provide an address so we are able to forward the information to the Public Works Department.”

As far as I have heard, HCID #6 is still planning to put boats in the lake, starting today, to gather dead fish in the lake using nets. The shores will probably be our responsibility to gather fish and bag for city pickup.

Dead fish…

Hello all. It looks like the cold weather took its toll on the fish in the lake. My wife and I spent yesterday pulling carcasses out and putting them into trash bags. Yuk!

My neighbor was talking to the City of La Joya and found out that there is a cleanup planned by the City and Irrigation District #6. I was also notified by our Board President that Irrigation District #6 was acquiring supplies for cleanup and will be in the water tomorrow, February 24, 2021.

I don’t know how completely the water district plans to cleanup. We may need to help by taking care of some of our waterfront ourselves.

Loose Dog

We have another loose dog running around the neighborhood. Is it yours?

A reminder that the City of La Joya has ordinances against loose animals. Please keep your animals contained in your own yards. It pains us to call animal control, but we will do it.

Annual HOA Meeting – 03/24/2018

It is that time again, neighbors! The Annual Meeting of Walker Lake Homeowners, Inc. is scheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2018. We will gather at 11 AM in theĀ HOA office/clubhouse (224 N Kika De La Garza Blvd.) on the East side of the lake. We will have some eats and drinks available for your enjoyment as we recap 2017, and conduct some crucial business for the upcoming year.

2018 Dues invoices have been printed and will be going out in the mail with invitations and voting proxy forms. Be on the lookout for them.

An agenda will be attached to this post (and displayed at the office) as it becomes available.

AGENDA 3-24-18

Loose Dogs

Does this dog belong to you? Please contain your animals! This dog has been sighted in the 600-700 block of N. Kika de la Garza Blvd. antagonizing other animals in their yards. No collar, no tags. Tan male Pit Bull mix.

The City of La Joya has leash laws, and animals are NOT allowed to freely roam the streets.

Please, PLEASE, make sure your animals are kept safely in your own yard. We will be calling animal control on any animals roaming the neighborhood unattended.

Hydrilla Infestation

Walker Lake, North East end

I’m sure all of you, especially those with lakefront property, have noticed the Hydrilla infestation plaguing the lake. Many of you might remember a similar event several years ago. The members of the HOA Board thought we should take this opportunity to post something to inform members what we have been trying to do about the weeds in the water.
